Having a bad day? Slurping a hot and scrumptious bowl of noodles is all that it takes to turn it around. Noodles are a joy to eat! They are incredibly versatile and can be eaten in soupy or stir-fried form. There are various types of noodles like udon, somen, shirataki, ramen, soba, etc.

The two most popular types include rice and egg noodles. Both these types are easy to prepare and are a rich source of carbohydrate. Have a look at some differences and similarities between these two kinds of noodles.

Rice noodles are made from rice flour and water. Sometimes, cornstarch and tapioca are also added to create a slurpy and chewy texture of the noodles. They come in varying thickness

They have a neutral flavour and can easily be prepared in various forms like soups, curries, stir-fries or salads.

When it comes to nutritional value, rice noodles have around 192 calories and 1.20 grams of fat in a single cup. Since they are purely made of rice flour and water, they are low in protein.

Egg noodles as the name suggests are made with egg and wheat flour. Just like rice noodles, they too are available in different thicknesses.

Since egg noodles are made with egg, they have a high protein content and a high rate of water absorption. They are firm and chewy in texture and are thus, perfect for stir-frying on high heat.

In terms of nutritional content, they are low in cholesterol and carbohydrates but rich in protein.
